In a recent survey, 55% of those survey respondents sitting on the main board of their companies, reported feeling optimistic about the future. Worries about the global economy were receding.

However, having the right staff and skills is a bigger challenge this year than it was last; 16% of respondents said it was their biggest challenge, compared with 12% last year.

The welcoming news is that with growth comes the realisation that sales and marketing roles are required more than ever. In fact, it has recently been reported that sales and marketing assignments are outstripping finance roles in terms of requirements.

Organisations are getting themselves in shape in order to be able to survive and thrive. Although, attracting good contractors and interim help remains an issue.

Hiring managers report that business leaders need to recruit people with strategic thinking and influencing capabilities as well as good people skills.
