When tax compliance software firm and existing client Vertex required an Events Marketing Manager on a contract basis, they instructed Marketing Moves to recruit this hard-to-fill role

Vertex, Incorporated is a tax compliance software and services company based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA. Vertex was founded in 1978 by Ray Westphal. With 1100 employees, the company went public on the Nasdaq stock exchange on July 29, 2020.
Events Marketing Manager Role & Responsibilities
Vertex EMEA Marketing Director Dan Fernandez instructed Marketing Moves’ Jack Berry to recruit a Contract Event Marketing Manager – to own the events plan and lead on the event execution.
This included event logistics, supplier liaison, internal stakeholder management, stand creative development, messaging, pre-event briefings, post event reviews and general related communications.
Events Marketing Recruitment Process
Specific challenges included event operations, logistics, budget management and agency management. This made the recruitment particularly difficult, finding a candidate at short notice who was able to start immediately, with the relevant skill-set and within budget.
Thankfully, Jack has an extensive network of contract and interim marketing professionals built up over many years, with many operating in the software events space. He contacted all of those who were suitable and provided a shortlist of qualified, available candidates in a very small period of time.
The Successful Appointment
After many hours of intensive conversations and analysis, Jack put forward five applicants to a two stage interview process with the EMEA Marketing Director and key stakeholders.
Following careful deliberation amongst the hiring team, the offer was made to the stand-out candidate who fit the requirements from an experience perspective, but who also built a strong rapport with the Marketing Director. She is in situ as of February 2023.
