Overview

When a business management database software company required their first ever Head of Employee Communications due to significant growth, the company’s Chief People Officer trusted Marketing Moves to recruit another important position.

Background

Undergoing significant growth by acquisition, this newly created Head of Employee Communications role was key to creating a strong culture across the company.

The position was required to develop and implement a world class internal communications and employee engagement program.

Specifically, the successful applicant would be responsible for internal communications, messaging, employee events and employee engagement.

Challenge

Being a newly created role, it was absolutely imperative that the right person was hired, first time. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the position was crucial to take the company forward – so expectations were very high and finding the correct individual with the matching skillset and gravitas was key.

The Key to Successful Software Communications Recruitment

Thankfully for the company, Marketing Moves’ Partner Jack Berry has built up an unrivalled network of tech comms professionals over the last six years, and he duly set about the task of finding the proverbial needle in a haystack.

In doing so, he carried out an extensive search of relevant candidates from the Marketing Moves database, which possesses tens of thousands of tech marketing experts – all of which have been carefully added since our inception in 1991.

Jack then replicated this process externally to ensure that no stone was left unturned when it came to identifying all active (job-seeking) and passive (happy in their current role) candidates.

Supporting both the client and candidates throughout the process, he was in constant contact with all parties throughout the recruitment process, keeping everyone updated to any changing timescales.

Outcome

After extensive conversations and analysis, Jack created a shortlist of five applicants who were each put forward to a comprehensive five-stage interview process – which included in-person interviews and presentations.

With lengthy deliberation from the interview panel, a formal offer was made to the successful candidate.

The winning applicant possessed all the relevant experience required, while also showing new ideas and strategies they could bring to the role, and demonstrating excellent stakeholder management skills.

They are now in the role, doing very well and making a positive impact to the business.
