Head of Marketing Role

RBB’s continued organic growth led to the requirement for a dedicated, experienced marketing resource. This was a new role in the organisation and a great opportunity to firmly establish marketing’s presence in the firm.

The role will centralise all the company’s marketing activities, which will be based around a new CRM and digital marketing platform – which are currently being implemented. The role will also be responsible for ensuring a strong social media presence and managing the website. A reporting strategy will also be required to provide senior management with regular updates on client initiatives, market communications and competitor activities.

Key to the success of RBB has been strong relationships with important influencers and existing clients. The Head of Marketing will manage the marketing strategy to continue to develop and nurture these relationships with effective communications and own hosted engaging events.

Head of Marketing Recruitment Process

In addition to core marketing skills, the key to successful recruitment was finding someone who would match and fit the RBB culture – and be able to deal and work with partners in the business. Whilst a little outside Marketing Moves’ core tech focus – RBB’s B2B and professional services is something we know very well from a tech consultancy perspective. Just in this case they are economists!

All of the above should have made the recruitment process difficult, but Mel is delighted to say that in this case it wasn’t. One key reason was an amazing face to face briefing with RBB’s COO and two senior partners – who all gave their valuable time which in turn gave Mel valuable information. The meeting also gave Mel an excellent insight into the business and by visiting their office he got a strong feel for the company’s culture and style. 

Mel set about his executive search across multiple channels – the Marketing Moves database, advertising the role of the Marketing Moves website and social media. He also leveraged several priceless referrals from long-standing members of his network – something which makes the services of Marketing Moves invaluable when searching tor passive candidates who aren’t actively looking and when only the best applicant will do.

Successful Head of Marketing Recruitment

In total Mel spoke with a longlist of over 250 candidates, which in turn was whittled down to a shortlist of 19. From this – and after much cross-analysis – five applicants were put forward to RBB for interview. This interview process was three stage with one involving a task.

After much deliberation, the interview panel at RBB offered the role to the stand-out applicant based on their great fit with the business and deep subject matter expertise.
