Background
When a cloud-based global currency payment platform required cover for a Senior Communications Manager who was about to start her maternity leave, they contacted Marketing Moves’ Partner for Contract & Interim Management recruitment Laura Barrett to utilise her network to fill the void.
Role
The Interim Senior Communications Manager is responsible for all corporate communications, PR and internal communications for the organisation, whilst leading all strategic communications initiatives. The role had a focus mostly on external comms and PR, and was starting during a period of growth within the company.
Challenge
Unlike a permanent role – or indeed many contract roles – Laura had to work to a tight deadline to ensure a sufficient handover period with the person the role was covering, whilst also ensuring that the successful candidate had relevant PR, comms and sector experience – which is a rare breed indeed!
Solution
Thankfully for the company, Laura was able to leverage her existing network and identify new individuals to put forward several candidates for both phone and face to face interviews with the person who the role was covering for, as well as the reporting manager, HR and CMO.

After a comprehensive interview process the company chose the successful applicant based on their strong PR & marketing background, contract and freelance experience, relevant technology sector industry experience and their passion for tech and fintech!
