Overview

When a long-term Marketing Moves client – a global banking software company – required a Marketing Communications Manager, they instructed Marketing Moves CEO Mel Day to recruit this important role.

Background

The company required a Marketing Communications Manager for broad internal and external comms work. Mel’s brief was to find a really high quality person rather than searching against a very specific skill set. So the successful applicant needed to fit culturally and have strong all round comms experience. 

Challenge

An unforeseen restructure of the marketing department made this a tricky recruitment process for Mel. With requirements and personnel changing repeatedly during the process, keeping internal stakeholders informed became extremely difficult. This caused delays and change which required constant adaptation to keep external candidates interested. 

Process

Thankfully Mel knows the company well  so he can quickly spot someone who will fit their culture with minimal input from the client. Posting the job to the Marketing Moves website, social media and in our monthly newsletter to tens of thousands of our registered candidates, Mel set about to the task in hand. After creating a longlist of 177 candidates, Mel whittled this down to a shortlist of the very best six interested applicants.

Appointment

All six completed a three-stage interview process that included a practical task, after which the successful applicant was chosen based on their great fit with the business and deep subject matter expertise. They have now been in post for three months and doing well!
